Find your visa
Thailand has more visa options than most people realise. Here's what's actually available.
Tourist Visa & Visa Exemption
Most Western passport holders get 30-60 days visa-free on arrival. Extendable once. Good for a first visit — not for long stays.
Thailand Elite Visa
5 to 20 years of renewable stays. Expensive upfront but the simplest long-term option if you can afford it. No income proof, no reporting headaches.
LTR Visa (Long Term Resident)
Thailand's newest long-stay visa for wealthy expats, remote workers, and retirees. 10-year stay, tax benefits, and a fast-track lane at the airport.
Retirement Visa (Non-OA)
For those 50 and over. Requires proof of income or savings. Renewable annually. The classic long-stay option for retirees.
Buying Property in Thailand
Foreigners can buy condos but not land. The rules are complicated and matter. Here's the honest answer to the most asked question.

Quick answers
Can I stay in Thailand long term without a retirement visa?
Yes. The Thailand Elite visa, LTR visa, and some Non-Immigrant visas all allow long-term stays without the retirement visa age requirement. Your options depend on your income, savings, and what you're doing in Thailand.
Is there a digital nomad visa for Thailand?
Not officially — but the LTR visa covers remote workers earning over $80,000/year. Many nomads use back-to-back tourist visas or Elite visas. We cover all the options in the full visa guide.
Can I retire in Thailand before 50?
The official retirement visa requires age 50+. But the Thailand Elite visa and LTR visa have no age requirement. Early retirees typically use one of these. See our retiring in Thailand guide for the full picture.
